Bound: Recent Prints from Five Book Projects by Nathaniel Hester

Opening Reception: Saturday, July 7, 2007. 6-9pm

View from the Stage by Maggie Evans
Maggie Evans is an artist and musician based in Savannah, Georgia. View from the Stage
is a series inspired by Maggie's experiences playing bass in a blues band throughout the
southeast. Working from memory, Maggie uses charcoal to explore the gritty character
of bars from her perspective as a musician. Maggie holds an MFA in painting from the
Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD). She was awarded the graduate fellows
award from SCAD in 2005 and has received placement awards in a number of group
exhibitions. Maggie has had five solo exhibitions and her work has been included in over
twenty-five juried shows.

Bound: Recent Prints from Five Book Projects by Nathaniel Hester
From the perverse to the sublime, Nathaniel Hester's bookmaking projects, which marry
his intaglio etchings and relief block cuts to the verse and text of contemporary poets,
investigate the incongruous harmonies of the American landscape. He maintains a studio
in the Hester's Store community of Person County, North Carolina with his wife, their dog,
cats, chickens, ducks, and honeybees.

April Solo Exhibitions April 7 - 28
Opening Reception: Saturday, April 7, 2007. 6-8pm.

Maxwell’s Demon [nyt2003]
Jonathan Field is an English installation and new media artist living
and working in Savannah Georgia.
Maxwell’s Demon [nyt2003] engages directly with the invasion of Iraq
in 2003 and its mediation. On the first day of each month during that
year, images taken from the New York Times were enlarged and
reproduced in pinheads on sheets of black rubber. The resulting pictures
bring to mind pixilation, constellations or molecular randomness, and
stand as mute accompaniments to one year in human history.

Pillars of SALT: the Act of Resisting Exile
Repurposing the biblical tale of Lot's wife to examine the experiences of
forced migration, Shawn Johnson's selection from a larger body of thematic
work seeks to foster meaningful understanding of this profound global
concern. By humanizing those who find themselves displaced, the artist
encourages greater comprehension of major human rights issues.
